Residential: Seasons In The Garden: The Winter Garden

Solow Design worked with a return customer on establishing the landscape for this new, yet vintage-inspired, classic South Charlotte home.

A rare enchanting winter's snow in Charlotte, served as the perfect opportunity to catalog the beauty of the season, as many only focus on the warmer months of the year to showcase a garden, these images are proof that winter can be just as magical!

  • The layered walls of this property speak to the form and function of the entire landscape. During the winter their haunting beauty becomes a beckoning entry to a winter wonderland.
  • A different perspective free of winter snow.
  • As a mirror image of the same location photographed for the Spring Garden gallery, this romantic garden pergola becomes a vantage point as the surrounding flora are now at rest in their dormant winter state.
  • The rear courtyard becomes the center of attention from the home's rear windows. Now blanketed in snow, the circular placement of the evergreens appear to stand guard over the outdoor fountain.
  • BoltWinter_11_JPG
  • This is the view from the rear courtyard that gives a clear view of the entire backyard.
  • An alternate view of the fountain from the rear courtyard that shows the arched niche off in the wintery distance. This niche is a focal point aloing the backyard crushed path and seperates the home from the neighboring property.
  • Within the large rectangular portion of the landscape a 2' sidewalk extends its entirety. Matching garden benches face each other on opposite ends adding to the space's intended formality.
  • Just as intended, the flora comes to life as Mother Nature gently whispers her wakeup call.
  • A statue of the beloved {quote}Savannah Bird Girl{quote} statue whose original sits in Savannah's Bonaventure Cemetary, made famous from John Berendt's {quote}Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil{quote}, keeps watch over this lovely landscape and waits for spring to arrive.
